Bench Grinders
Bench grinders are stationary tools with an abrasive wheel or belt that spins at high speed to shape or smooth a workpiece. They mount to a workbench, and the operator holds the piece with both hands against the rotating wheel or belt to form or smooth it. The coarser the belt's or wheel's grit level, the more material it will remove. The finer the belt's or wheel's grit level, the smoother the finish it will leave on the workpiece. Belts cover more surface area and produce a smoother, more even finish than wheels. Wheels can remove material from small areas, curves, and shaped pieces more easily than belts. Bench grinders are compact and can be stored when not in use.
