What Are My Options for Enclosure Design?There are two basic motor enclosure types: Open and Totally Enclosed. Choosing the right enclosure design depends on your application.

Open enclosures have a vented design that allows air circulation for cooling, while preventing liquids and debris from falling onto the motor components. They're generally used for clean, dry, indoor applications.

Totally Enclosed enclosures block the exchange of air between the areas inside and outside the motor. Some include an internal cooling fan. They're suitable for use in damp, dirty, corrosive environments.

Pedestal Fan AC Motors

Pedestal fan AC motors, also known as yoke mount motors, are used as replacement motors in pedestal fans and some wall-mount fans. They have a built-in yoke bracket or yoke strap for mounting the motor to the pedestal. Studs can be used to mount the fan guard directly to the motor's shaft end shield. Motors power pedestal fans that are commonly used to circulate air in factories, greenhouses, schools, storage facilities, warehouses, and other large indoor areas.
